Chalet Téléphérique is our flagship chalet — and with good reason. For a start there’s the plum location in the very centre of the resort, virtually on the slopes and with restaurants and shops just across the road. That means whether you want to catch the first lift, get the kids to ski school on time, or just pop out to enjoy a bit of après ski before dinner, it’s all just about as easy as it can be (plus you get a longer lie-in and more time in the bar because everything’s so close!)
It’s also that this is a four-storey, purpose-built chalet that, from the top — a fire-warmed penthouse lounge with wraparound balcony offering stunning mountain views — to the bottom — a complete relaxation suite and drying room with boot heaters — everything has been designed, based on years of experience of ski holidays, to make your stay as comfortable, stress-free, and easy as possible.
We know that after a hard day on the slopes, there’s nothing like the warm embrace of a hot tub or sauna to chase away any aches and pains. And, when you’re feeling more human again, it’s the perfect time to make your way to the penthouse lounge area, or the wraparound balcony, and enjoy the amazing mountain views with a hot chocolate or a glass of vin chaud.
If you’re being roped into helping prep the evening meal, the fully-equipped designer kitchen makes it a breeze. There’s plenty of space to prep and, as well as all the usual appliances you’d expect — fridge freezer, oven, 4-ring induction hob, microwave — we’ve also popped in a Nespresso machine for those for whom dinner isn’t complete without a shot of caffeine, and a dishwasher, which means no arguments over washing up. (And no reason not to linger at the dining table that comfortably seats 12 and have — oh, go on then — another glass of that excellent local wine — and maybe a sliver more comté to go with it.)
After dinner, while the nightspots of Morzine are just moments away, if you fancy just vegging out in front of a Netflix movie, there’s a 75” Ultra HD TV — or just enjoy the open fire, put some music on the speaker system, and lounge on one of the comfy sofas.
And if the kids want to play video games — or there’s some must-see event on live TV, don’t worry, there’s also a separate games area with another HD TV, Blu-ray player and an Xbox One, so there won’t be any disputes over who controls the remote.
And, if all you’re good for is a good night’s sleep, you can make your way to one of the five well-sized bedrooms. All five can be made up as twin beds or a king, depending on the needs of your party, and one can work as a family suite — or for a larger mixed group of adults — with a separate internal bunk room. With plenty of storage space, there’s no need to pack light, but if you are doing a hand luggage only option, there’s also a washing machine and tumble dryer so you won’t run out of clean socks — plus a large drying room with boot dryers so your kit will never feel cold and wet the next day, however much deep pow you’ve ploughed through.
You’re so central that you’re unlikely to need your car in resort — the Pleney lift which takes you to the Morzine-Les Gets ski area is pretty much on the doorstep, you’re only a six-minute walk to the Super Morzine lift for access to Avoriaz and the rest of the Portes de Soleil ski area, and there’s a bus stop moments away for the ski bus to Les Prodains for direct access to Avoriaz. But if you are self-drivers, there is covered parking for two cars, and space for another two or three in the drive.
Note: The chalet is currently being built, ready for October 2021. The photos are of other properties in our portfolio and are purely to give you an idea of the style and furnishings once finished.
