Locations really don’t get better than this. For a start, the nearest supermarket is literally downstairs from Apartment La Réserve 1, and one of the best bakeries in town is across the road, and that’s before we get to the excellent restaurants and wine bars that are so close that you could almost shout your order from the balcony. Then there’s the Super Morzine lift, which gives access to Avoriaz and the extensive Portes du Soleil area, which is just around the corner.
So, yes, it’s super-central (although if you do want to bring a car, there is private parking available), but it’s also brilliantly sound-proofed so you’d never guess, and so well-equipped that you might never want to leave. Take the living area, for example. Cleverly divided into cooking, dining and relaxation zones, there’s a small kitchen that packs a serious punch when it comes to mod cons — whether you want to microwave a bowl of soup for the kids, or are pulling out all the stops with slow-cooked beef bourguignon.
By the way, while that casserole is in the oven, head out onto one of the balconies with a glass of the local Savoie wine, and if you’re lucky, you’ll catch the sun setting over the Pleney piste, before you have to serve up at the dining table that comfortably seats four.
Don’t panic about mountains of washing up, the dishwasher will see to that, while you curl up on the L-shaped sofa, in front of the real log fire, with a Nespresso. Then it’s up to you: do you want to listen to your favourite tunes, via the Bluetooth speaker, or catch the latest Netflix must-watch on the HDTV?
When it’s time for bed, there are two en suite rooms, one has a fixed king size bed and the other can either be made up as two single beds or one king size double depending on your needs — one has a bath, and one has a shower, while both have balconies and mountain views, plus plenty of storage space. Although a ski store with boot dryers means your kit doesn’t need to clutter up the apartment, and there’s also a washing machine and tumble dryer so you can take a suitcase of clean laundry home with you!
If you’ve fallen in love with Apartment La Réserve 1 — and who would blame you? — but it’s not available the week you wanted, do take a look at Apartments La Réserve 2 or La Réserve 3 just next door which boast the same elegant style and very similar amenities and accommodation. And, if you want to make it a bigger trip with even more friends and family, it’s worth knowing that between them, the three La Réserve apartments, which are all in the same building, can sleep a total of 16 people in all.
Note: Unfortunately this apartment is not suitable for mountain bikers.
